Martha Reilly grew up in Pensacola, Florida where she was classically trained in ballet and modern dance under the direction of Dorothy Daniels Listers, Nannette Whidby Grimm, and Bobby Ball.  She was a company dancer with Kaleidoscope & Ballet Pensacola, and her performance experience ranged from the classic story ballets such as Cinderella, the Nutcracker, Don Quixote, and the Firebird, to contemporary pieces by choreographers such as Xijung Fu, Lee Wei Chao, and Katie Stevenson-Nollet.  She also performed in musical theatre, including A Chorus Line and the Music Man, and collaborated with local musicians to choreograph original pieces.  As her foundational ballet training was under the guidance of Dorothy Lister, who developed the syllabus for the Joffrey School of New York’s children’s department, which is still being used over 25 years later, it is Ms. Lister’s vision of ensuring correct training from the very beginner levels all the way to the advanced which Mrs. Reilly uses as her model for dance education.
